COVID-19 Emergency Fund

Greenwood House COVID-19 Emergency Fund Information:

Greenwood House’s mission to care for the most vulnerable in our community has always been crucial, but now, in the midst of this pandemic, it is urgent.

Across the organization, our teams are working tirelessly and with extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of our seniors who are especially susceptible to COVID-19 and related complications.

These efforts come at a significant cost and we need your emergency support.

We have already expanded our support services and programs to protect our seniors, as well as their caregivers and our staff. These lifesaving measures will cost $300,000 or more in emergency funds.

Your Gift:

  • Provides additional personal protective equipment like face masks, gowns, gloves, and hand sanitizers. Maintaining a considerable inventory of these items will save lives.
  • Supports our extraordinary efforts to sanitize surfaces and high-touch areas on a more aggressive schedule.
  • Enhances activity programming for our residents at both Greenwood House and our Abrams Residence to combat social isolation and depression. This includes: creative technology solutions for engagement like Skype, digital games, video, and our NEW iN2L computer system which brings people together, connecting our seniors with what interests and fulfills them and enabling them to share conversations, experiences, learning, and fun with each other, their caregivers, and family members.
  • Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing. Greenwood House has had to respond swiftly and with flexibility to ensure that we have the complement of staff needed while also mitigating infection risk. Some members of the team are home caring for infected family members and therefore must quarantine. Others are here nearly around-the-clock.
  • Enables additional support and education for all staff on the front line who provide direct care for our elderly. Their commitment and service are the hallmarks of our caring culture.

In addition to increasing expenses related to this global pandemic, we’re also experiencing a shortfall in revenue. As significantly fewer elective surgeries are occurring, our short-term rehabilitation program is under-performing as a revenue driver. Physical distancing mandates are also delaying moves to skilled nursing and assisted living organizations, understandably.

We need your help now so we can maintain our operations to serve our community.

The coming weeks and months are critical to ensuring the well-being of our most vulnerable community members and, our actions today will save lives. We are grateful for the support of our community, and we need you now more than ever.
