Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 2, 2026

Greenwood House (“Greenwood House,” “we,” “us”) is a nonprofit organization based at 53 Walter Street, Ewing, NJ 08628. We provide assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, therapy and rehabilitation, home care through Greenwood House at Home, hospice care, and Meals on Wheels.

This policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.greenwoodhouse.org (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers the Site only. It does not cover the medical records and other health information we keep when we care for you. That information is covered by our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices (see Section 5).

By using the Site, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a form, request information, apply for residence or a job, sign up to volunteer, subscribe to updates, or donate, we collect what you enter. This can include your name, email, phone number, mailing address, the service you are asking about, and your message.

Please do not include detailed medical information in website forms. Our care team will collect what it needs by phone or in person.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers collect:

  • Device and browser details, such as IP address, browser type, operating system and language
  • Approximate location based on your IP address (city or region, not your exact location)
  • Pages you view, links you click, how long you stay, and the page that sent you here
  • Cookie and pixel identifiers, described in Section 2

Information from others. We may receive information from advertising and analytics partners, such as reports on how our ads performed. These reports are generally aggregated and do not identify you by name.

2. Cookies, Pixels and Similar Technologies

The Site uses cookies, pixels and tags. These are small files or pieces of code that let a website or a third party recognize your browser and record activity on the Site. Some are set by us and some by the companies listed below.

  • Essential cookies (Greenwood House / WordPress): keep the Site working, remember your cookie choices, and protect forms from spam.
  • Google Tag Manager (Google LLC): loads and manages the other tags on the Site.
  • Google Analytics (Google LLC): measures visits, pages viewed, traffic sources and general location so we can improve the Site.
  • Google Ads tags (Google LLC): measure whether our ads lead to visits or inquiries, and may show our ads to people who visited the Site (remarketing).
  • Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.): measures the results of our Facebook and Instagram ads, and may show our ads to people who visited the Site.

What these partners receive. When a page loads, Google and Meta may receive your IP address, browser and device details, the address of the page you viewed, the time of your visit, and cookie identifiers. If you are logged in to a Google or Meta account, they may connect this activity to that account under their own privacy policies. We do not send the contents of our forms to Google or Meta.

You can learn more in the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy), in “How Google uses information from sites that use our services” (policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites), and in the Meta Privacy Policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy).

Advertising. Using these tags for ad measurement and remarketing may count as “targeted advertising” or “sharing” of personal data under some state laws. You can opt out as described in Section 6.

3. How We Use Information

  • To answer your questions and requests, and follow up about services, tours, admissions, volunteering or employment
  • To process donations and send receipts and acknowledgments
  • To send newsletters or event updates you asked for (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • To understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it
  • To measure our advertising and show our ads to people who have visited the Site
  • To keep the Site secure and prevent spam, fraud and misuse
  • To comply with the law and protect our rights

We do not sell your information for money.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only as described here:

  • Service providers who help us run the Site and our programs, such as web hosting, form and email tools, donation processing, and applicant tracking. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
  • Analytics and advertising partners (Google and Meta), through the cookies and pixels described in Section 2.
  • Legal and safety reasons, when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Greenwood House, our residents, patients, staff or others.
  • Organizational changes, such as a merger or affiliation. In that case, the information would move with the organization and stay covered by this policy.
  • With your consent, or at your direction.

We do not rent or trade donor or contact lists.

5. Health Information and HIPAA

When we provide care to you, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) protects the health information we keep. That information is governed by our Notice of Privacy Practices, not by this website policy. You can request a copy of the Notice by calling (609) 883-5391 or emailing info@greenwoodhouse.org.

The Site is for general information. It is not a patient portal, and we do not use cookies or pixels to collect your medical records, diagnoses or treatment details.

If you need to share health information with us, please call (609) 883-5391 or, for home care, (609) 718-0562.

6. Your Choices

  • Cookie preferences. You can manage cookies through our cookie banner or your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may stop parts of the Site from working.
  • Opt out of targeted advertising. Email info@greenwoodhouse.org with the subject line “Opt Out.” We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a request to opt out of targeted advertising.
  • Google. Manage ad settings at myadcenter.google.com, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Meta. Manage your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.
  • Industry tools. Opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
  • Emails. Click “unsubscribe” in any email from us.

Opt-outs set through cookies apply only to the browser and device you are using. If you clear your cookies, you may need to opt out again.

7. Your New Jersey Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, including under the New Jersey Data Privacy Act, you may have the right to:

  • Confirm whether we process your personal data, and get a copy of it
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Delete personal data you provided or that we obtained about you
  • Opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling

To make a request, email info@greenwoodhouse.org or call (609) 883-5391. We will verify your identity before acting on your request. You may also use an authorized agent. We will respond within 45 days. When reasonably necessary, we may extend that by another 45 days, and we will tell you if we do.

If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.” We will respond to an appeal within 45 days. If you are not satisfied with the result, you may contact the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Health information protected by HIPAA is handled under our Notice of Privacy Practices instead.

8. Other Important Information

Donations. Online donations are processed by a secure third-party payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. The processor handles payment details under its own privacy policy.

Children. The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect information. No website or transmission over the internet is completely secure.

Retention. We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires.

Other websites. The Site links to other sites, such as our social media pages and donation platform. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Changes to this policy. We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
