b'G O V E R N A N C E U P D A T E D O U G L A S Z E L T T Board PresidentAs of May 11, 2023, the United States Department of Health and Human Services declared the end of the federal Public Health Emergency for COVID-19. As of May 31, 2023, my three-year term as the (self-proclaimed) Pandemic President of the Greenwood House Board of Directors will likewise come to a conclusion. As I reflect on the past three years, I am in awe of the fortitude, collaboration, professionalism and sheer grit of the Greenwood House leadership and staff. They have stayed true to our mission of helping seniors in our community in harmony with the Jewish tradition of honoring our elders and in the face of significant obstacles presented by the pandemic, including inflation, staffing shortages, increased government regulation and industry-wide challenges.I am equally impressed by our numerous volunteers, fundraisers, donors, Board Members, and Advisory Council members and their significant contributions and dedication to Greenwood House through this challenging periodmost recently at our second annual, successful Battle of the Bands fundraiser. When I taker a closer look at Greenwood House, I realize time and again that the seniors and families who we serve have the privilege of receiving those services from the best caregivers in the business. I witnessed this firsthand this year when both of my parents needed care, and we were welcomed by the Greenwood House staff like family. I encourage you to talk about the wonderful care and services provided by our organization in your homes, in your communities, in the hospitals, with health care workers and with friends. As to our future, it is my pleasure to introduce Carli Masia as the new President of the Board of Directors. I am confident you will find Carlis enthusiasm for our mission and interest in the senior care community infectious (that may not be the best choice of words in the post-Covid era). All the best to you Carli, and I look forward to working beside you. Thank you to the Board of Greenwood House and to senior leadership for allowing me to serve as your President and for your constant support of our organization.I wish you all a relaxing summer and prosperous year ahead.Douglas ZelttDouglas Zeltt12'
