Hospice Care

Greenwood Hospice, established in memory of Renee Denmark Punia

With Greenwood Hospice, established in memory of Renee Denmark Punia, the emphasis isn’t on cure... it’s on care. We have a long tradition of providing compassionate care, comfort and support, as well as expertise in pain and symptom management. Our goal is to enable patients to participate in the activities they enjoy, for as long as possible.

Greenwood Hospice helps families meet the challenges of end-of-life issues by providing support to both patients and their loved ones so they can concentrate on time spent together.

The Hospice Team Concept

Our team of professionals works to provide individualized care for both patients and their families.

Care is managed by the patient’s personal physician, along with additional team members, who are offered as a support system to the patient’s primary caregiver. We will be there to help you with any issues, big or small. Our hospice team consists of:

  • Nurses to monitor pain, manage symptoms and guide caregivers in providing care for the patient.
  • Social Workers to help the patient and family cope with the stresses of the terminal illness and connect them with available community resources.
  • Trained Volunteers to assist with a variety of patient and family support activities.
  • Spiritual Care Coordinators to provide emotional support and counseling.
  • Home Health Aides to provide personal patient care.

Pet Peace of Mind

Pet Peace of Mind is a groundbreaking national program that allows patients and caregivers to enjoy their pets throughout the hospice journey.  When normal routines and responsibilities get shuffled and re-prioritized, Pet Peace of Mind is there to assure that the comfort of animal companionship remains in focus.

This program, made possible by a grant from Banfield Charitable Trust, is available in New Jersey only through Greenwood Hospice. Contact us today to learn how we:

  • Support the bond between people and pets
  • Help manage daily pet care expenses and responsibilities
  • Assure that each of our patients’ pets has a loving forever home

Our customized pet care plans are flexible, and our volunteers have experience with all types of pets, from hamsters to horses, and everything in between. Contact our Pet Peace of Mind Coordinator to learn how our program can help your family.
